Practical and Computerized Accounting for Small and Medium Enterprises (Course Code 09)
 
This course introduces the basic principles, concepts and techniques in financial accounting. It enables students to apply the basic accounting knowledge to business situations through exposing them to a variety of operation contexts commonly found in the sector of the small and medium enterprises.
   
Course outline:
Basic principles, concepts and techniques in financial accounting
Applying the basic accounting knowledge to record business transactions and preparing financial statements and related information by using computer software widely used by small and medium enterprises
 
Creating and processing end of period adjustment entries from the information given
Producing various kinds of reports of a given period for the purpose of management decision, analysis and financial reporting

Prospect:
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be granted the HKAAT Certified Accounts Clerk (CAC) qualification (without having to take the Book-keeping and Accounts Examination and Computerized Accounts Examination).
 
Students equipped with the CAC qualification are able to start their career in the profession or they can further their studies by attempting the eight-paper Accounting Technician Examinations to obtain the professional status of HKAAT.
 
Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding COC students for taking the HKAAT's examinations.
They may also further their studies in relevant accounting programmes offered by CCHES.
